Make notification emails settings that you can choose the hour when e-mail sents to users. Sometimes when I add 5 events a day it is disturbing for users. When I will be able to set up that notification will send to all for example @ 7pm, that can get 1 email with 5 events instead of 5 emails for each event.
Next thing that can significantly improve notifications – registered users notification “bell” for specific event. For example: user want to be notified 1 day before event starts, he uses notification bell and 24hour before event starts he get an email.
